IF EVERY DAY ON TRAIL IS AS GOOD AS TODAY, THEN THIS HIKE WILL BE MAGICAL!

DAY 1
3/7/2006
Started: Cape Henlopen State Park
Finished: Milton, DE
Today's Miles: 21.3
Total ADT Miles: 21.3

What a day,
We woke up this Morning in the Campground at Cape Henlopen State Park. It was a bit Chilly, but we slept well. Last Night we had a wonderful time around the campfire with Sheri s Dad Wiest and Lynn, Randy s Mom and Dad Propster and our friends Bonnie and Bob. We toasted to a wonderful Journey and we took the opportunity to thank them all for their amazing support! Today began with an awesome breakfast, thanks ladies! We then went down to the beach to dip a toe in the Atlantic and then headed west over the dunes past the first ADT marker and to the trailhead marking the eastern terminus. Ma and Pop Propster walked the first few miles with us and we all stopped in to the CHSP Nature Center where Lauren greeted us and had us sign the registry. A mile or so in to our Hike Sheri s Mom and Dad Natoli were hanging out trailside cheering us on! Their support has been priceless! The hike today has been mostly roadwalk, rough on the feet, but a beautiiful combination of farmland and small town life, with a hint of mass development mixed in as well. We were about 13 miles in when Dad Wiest and Lynn, Mom and Dad Propster and Bonnie and Bob greeted us with a nice lunch... We felt spoiled, if only we could talk them into following us across the country...haha... Late in the day we had two different offers of trail magic, delaware has some trail angels! We still have family here with us though, so we want to spend the night with them again. The great guys at the Milton Fire Dept. offered a nice spot close to the trail for all of us to camp out tonight. Thanks Guys! We were treated to dinner by BONNIE and BOB and now we will get some rest. We completed over 21 miles today and we plan on about the same tomorrow! A GREAT first day is east of us, We will keep "TRECK'IN" .....

YOUR FRIENDS ON THE ADT,
RANDY AND SHERI

P.S. Today we saw some pretty cool wildlife, who knew there were Llama and Osterich in Delaware?
