Day 2, another wonderful ADT hike! Does it get any better?
3/8/2006 DAY 2 Started: Milton, DE Finished: Blanchard Rd (Weaber Residence) Today's Miles: 22.7 Total ADT Miles: 44
Does it get any better? Yesterday was amazing..... today might top it! We woke up to a chilly start, but it warmed up fast, and the warmth just keeps coming too. We had an awesome breakfast in the Blue Bullet (Dad Wiest's RV), then hit the trail. We headed past the nice town of Milton and made our way through the Delaware farmland and into Redden State Forest. When we got close to the park office we were met by Mom Propster and Lynn walking toward us. The rest of the support crew (Dad Propster, Dad Wiest, Bonnie and Bob) were hanging at the park office driveway in the Blue Bullet with lunch waiting! After lunch we shed a few tears as we said goodbye to the crew. We will miss all of them. From there we were on our own. We hiked past lots of farms, most of which were preparing for spring by laying fertilizers, not the best smelling stuff, but who are a couple of stinky hikers to judge. We crossed over the Eastern Shores Main Highway, U.S. 13 and rolled on toward Maryland. Less then eight miles or so from the state line, as we were chasing the sun down and looking for a spot to pitch our tent, we came upon the Trail Angel of all Angels. Chris Weaber and her daughter Savanah were out in their yard as we came by, and they asked where we were from. As we told them about our Journey they immediately offered for us to stay for the night. Their home is amazing! Mr. Weaber went out for pizza and we enjoyed a family style dinner with the Weaber's. The hot meal, hot shower and soft bed were truly gifts of "Magic" from these wonderful "Angels" (Homemade cherry pie for dessert, WHAT??). We hiked about 22.7 miles today and have 44 miles east of us. We will wake tomorrow rested and ready to head west to meet Maryland.

P.S. We saw the blue of all blues on a bird today! Pretty sure it was a male Eastern Bluebird.
