We do love trail towns, and Harper's Ferry is a good one!!!

Finished: A.T. Footbridge to Harper's Ferry, WV on C&O Towpath in MD.
Today's ADT Miles: 0 (Rest Day)
Total ADT Miles: 218.3

We woke this morning at the Hilltop House in Harper's Ferry, WV. The first view of the day was from high above the Potomac River through the river valley that touches Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. Beautiful, flat out beautiful. Well, really nothing flat about it. We are near the crest of the Blue Ridge, in the heart of the Appalachian Range and it is anything but flat. Definitely beautiful though. Shortly after 9:00 am Sheri's Mom and Dad Natoli arrived and we went out for a nice breakfast at the Country Kitchen. It was a small, homestyle place with tasty food and pleasant atmosphere. We are enjoying our time with family today, so we are resting our feet (keeping our axe sharp, if you will) and the miles west will have to wait for now. Randy's swollen left shin was given a good bill of health today by Dr. Allen who practices out of Jefferson Memorial Hospital. His shin is badly bruised, sort of like a deep bone bruise, and there is a strange lump that we need to keep an eye on, but no cracks, and as long as Randy can deal with the pain he shouldn't cause any more damage by continuing to hike on it. Harper's Ferry is such a great trail town, even Dr. Allen was a total outdoors enthusiast. He told us to just take it easy for a few days, which was music to Sheri's ears, and he is a doctor so Randy will actually listen to him! Tonight we will enjoy a nice dinner with Mom and Dad Natoli, hopefully check out some of the March Madness (Duke had no problems in the first two rounds!! Looks like UNC might have struggled a bit with Murray State!?!), and rest up so we can hit the trail fresh tomorrow. This trail town has been a great stop. We do love true trail towns, and we have "discovered" that Harper's Ferry is a good one.

Your Friends on the ADT,
Randy and Sheri
