Getting Your 'Field Trip' Started Why are we creating a 'Virtual Field Trip'? The Information available throughout this webpage is our way of sharing our 'discovery' of the American Discovery trail. We truly enjoy living a long distance backpackers lifestyle. In the perfect world we would all be able to do what we love to do and still be able to support ourselves, in other words "get paid". While we know that backpacking across the United States won't "compensate" us like a job, we also know that the journey will require us to work as hard as we ever have! In an attempt to search for compensation for our hard work we determined we would not "get paid", but we could be "compensated" with the joy of enriching the lives of others. Sharing our Daily Readings, Journals and Photographs will offer us the opportunity to enhance the learning process for the numerous students exploring this 'Virtual Field Trip' experience. The research that our discoveries will inspire will become an excellent Library created by students, for students. We hope this webpage becomes a resource that can touch the lives of many people, helping to create an understanding of the American Discovery Trail and the countless educational resources found along this amazing journey. If we are able to motivate students to research topics related to the Trail and offer other students a library full of the educational materials resulting from that research, then we feel we will be compensated through the enrichment of these students lives. That type of "compensation" is priceless, and worth all the effort, blood, sweat and tears! While the information throughout this webpage can all be used independently for different research needs, it is formated with a 'Virtual Field Trip' in mind and can be sequenced together for a 'discover' as we 'discover' experience. How should you begin your 'Virtual Field Trip'? Start your 'Field Trip' with our daily interactions, including our TRAIL JOURNALS DAILY READINGS and PHOTO GALLERY. Choosing a VIRTUAL HIKE OF THE ADT article by state will allow you to coordinate the points of interest in the article with the Journals, Photographs and the Daily Readings from that state, creating the feel of an on-the-scene 'discovery'. Continue your 'discovery' by referencing the VIRTUAL LIBRARY to see if the points of interest found in the Field Research and Data pages have been documented by one of the students involved in the research of these topics. You will also want to explore the CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES pages to see how our daily interactions are being incorporated into a Ninth Grade Earth Science Class. With state by state updates into our Virtual Hike of the ADT pages, day by day updates to the Daily Readings pages and weekly updates to our Photo Gallery you will truly have the chance to 'discover' as we 'discover'. To supplement your 'Field Trip' take time to 'discover' the many web links throughout Treck USA. To learn more about your trail guides on this thru-hike enjoy exploring our HIKERS page.
